We were not sure what to expect going into the process; however, we quickly learned that there was a knowledgeable team ready to help us through every twist and turn of this journey. Our worker was able to answer our questions and guide us down the proper path. We learned so much about ourselves through the preparation process and had clear expectations about what to expect moving forward. We will never forget the day we finally got the call and how our lives were going to change forever. To say that our children fit perfectly into our family is an understatement.

I don’t think I would be where I am today without the support of my foster parent. Growing up with a parent who suffers from mental illness is far from easy, from days where my mother couldn’t even get herself out of bed to her being on top of the world. Going into care made not only my surroundings more stable but instead of constantly worrying about how my mom was feeling I was able to focus on my own emotions. I am now a licensed pilot, working my way into the commercial industry and couldn’t’ be more proud of myself. Thank you to the Children’s Aid Society of Algoma and my foster mom for helping me find this path.
