RELIEF CHILD PROTECTION WORKER

The Child Protection Worker is the primary agent for delivering the Society's mandated services under the Child and Youth Family Services Act. The Child Protection Worker is responsible for; performing intake and investigation functions, case management and family services functions, ensuring that the physical, developmental and emotional needs of children who are in care temporarily or permanently are being met and that the services given meet Society and Ministry standards.
Qualifications:
- Preferred education: Bachelor of Social Work degree
- Minimum education: University Degree in the Human Sciences
- Significant experience in front line protection work, care of children, assessing, monitoring and evaluating substitute family care programs.
- Skills that allow the incumbent to accurately assess individual and family functioning and ensure that the physical, developmental and emotional needs of children who are in care temporarily or permanently are being met
- Well versed in individual and family counseling techniques that will address dysfunction within the context of a child protection mandate
- Effective organization, time management and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of the team
- Ability to work flexible hours that may include evening and weekends
- Knowledgeable in all ministry/legislative standards relating to child protection.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a clear driving transcript and have access to an automobile for the performance of his/her duties
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
- Experience and sensitivity to the needs of First Nations and Metis communities are considered assets.
- Provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
Salary Range: $62,647 - $77,006 per year.
